
August Munich was born and raised in New York. From an early age August showed an interest in art and was found to be very mechanically inclined. August took up painting and woodworking during his teen years. In 1980 as a young man August ventured to California in search of a new place to live. In 1982 August moved to Santa Barbara and soon became part of the large talented community of artist living there. In the years to follow August created unique wood sculptures, deco clocks and stone fountains sharing his days being creative and working in the trades. August believes in retrospect that all the previous experiences and acquired skills were laying the ground work to emerge as the self taught

artist August is today. In 1989 August became a professional artist exhibiting at the Santa Barbara Art Show and continues to exhibit to this day. Participating in the Santa Barbara Art Show has brought international recognition for his work having sculptures in many countries around the world. In 1995 August settled down in the small windy town of Buellton in the Santa Barbara area to start a family and build his art studio. August currently works with metal and glass to create kinetic sculpture with an emphasis on design, form and synergetic effect. |
